city has received more than an inch of rain. that's nearly the total amount we get during the entire month of october. there have been a number of accidents on slick roads across the bay area like this one involving a big rig and an suv. it happened in san ramon on northbound 680 just br the sycamore valley exit. no one was seriously hurt. certainly not beach weather today. in santa cruz, a coastal flood advisory is in effect until 3:00 p.m. tomorrow for areas from sonoma county to monterey county. high tides could cause coastal flooding. strong rip currents and sneaker waves are also possible. we have coverage. here from neighbors getting ready for possible floods and mudslides. but first an update from drew tuma. >> the umbrella getting a workout today. a lot of showers this morning and still some continue this afternoon. live doppler 7 shows you a peppering of showers around san jose. near alan rock, we have some light showers falling.

just to the east of livermore right now, some light showers as well. into the north bay, some smatteriheavier showers to the north around clover dale. there's a cold front positioned between eureka and ukiah. this is going to sweep through here in the next 6 to 12 hour and brings more wet weather not only tonight but potential lip for your monday. we'll break down your next 24 hours hour by hour in the forecast coming up. storm watch coverage continues now with a vulnerable area being hit hard by the weather. the wildfire scorched santa cruz mountains. cornell bernard is live in the santa cruz mountains. neighbors there are worried. >> reporter: eric, neighbors are really worried today. so much rain in so little time. i got to tell you this storm has been fierce today. so much wind and a lot of rain. we've been battered by it all day long. we are not far from that fire zone, and tonight that's the big

concern. a fierce storm pounding the santa cruz mountains. wind and rain packing a punch. so much water rushing down, finding any path off the mountain. tore anderson carries a shovel to clear debris and prevent any flooding. >> it's coming down pretty fast, so it's not going to soak in. it's just going to run off. >> reporter: not good for an area scorched by the massive loma fire just weeks ago, which burned more than 4,000 acres near loma prieta peak. increasing the risk of mudslides. >> where the fire was, there's nothing to hold the soil. if the rain continues like this, mudslides are going to be continual over there. >> reporter: lots of rocks are falling onto narrow roads near the summit. many locals are gathering at loma prieta winery to watch the storm rage outside by the comfort of a fireplace. >> i wish it wasn't all the rain all at once. it would have been nice to sort

of, you know, draw it out over several days instead of just one or two. but we need the rain. >> we're all one big family here in the mountains, so we definitely were concerned about our people who live here on this side. >> reporter: first fire, now wind and rain. with more on the way. in the santa cruz mountains, cornell barnard, abc7 news. the rain and wind gusts caused widespread power outages, most in the east bay where pg&e says 1,526 customers are without power. 275 outages are reported in the south bay. 120 on the peninsula. and pg&e says 65 customers are affected in san francisco. today's rain drenched fans and players at the raiders/chiefs game at the oakland coliseum. our media partners at the bay area news group shared these images of rain water that dripped down from the ceiling of the visiting fans tunnel. we have up to the minute weather

being shot while being apprehended. the man was accused of shooting sfpd offer kevin downs in the head. downs remains in the hospital, but he is conscious and able to talk. the department says the bullet that struck downs narrowly missed a main artery. they say the officer is experiencing some partial paralysis on one side of his body. >> this is horrific. you know, it is the worst type of incident that could happen, and it is more difficult to be a front line police than ever before in san francisco. >> downs was shot while responding to a 911 call about a man acting strangely and threatening shoppers at the lake shore shopping center. a gunman shot and badly injured a man near uc berkeley. it happened just after 11:00 last night at dana and haste streets. the victim is a 35-year-old man who is in critical condition. police say the shooting does not appear to be random, and it's unclear in the victim is connected with uc berkeley. lots of chatter from the campaign trail today following donald trump's accusations against the media suggesting the

it has been more than four years since the death of sierra lamar, and tomorrow jury selection is set to get under way in her murder trial. antonin garcia torres has pleaded not guilty. lamar vanished on her way to school in morgan hill in march of 2012. her body was never found despite thousands of hours of searching by police and volunteers. prosecutors are seeking the death penalty against garcia torres, and the trial could last six months. new details about a possible move of the raiders. team owner mark davis tells our

time-lapse video from the mountain camera shows us the winter weather advisory that tahoe is other. they could see one to two inches of snow at the higher elevations. >> announcer: now your accuweather forecast withdrew tuma. >> here locally in the bay area, tracking more wet weather moving in. a brief break in some spots but more showers develop later on this evening. live doppler 7 has been busy since friday, continues to track more showers. live doppler 7 into the north bay. a couple of light showers near san rafael. we now have a light shower beginning to make its presence known through san francisco right now. we're dodging a few drops around the mission, castro, even richmond district at this hour. the heaviest of the wet weather now developing to our north. live doppler 7 showing it's scanning the skies and finding around heeldsberg, clover dale these pops of yellow, especially around lake poert. those are the heavier downpours. this shield of moisture on your screen, this is our next cold front that's going to slowly sink to the south tonight and

bring us more widespread showers at least through midnight. since friday morning, we've seen a series of storms move through the bay area, and we have seen some impressive rainfall totals. a lot of spots well over an inch of rain. in fact, oakland, hayward, concord have seen their entire month's worth of rain in three days. that's how much rain we have just seen. and even in the santa cruz mountains, that is not a mistake. near 10 inches of rain. so it's for that fact in the santa cruz mountains we continue to have a flash flood warning in effect. this is the around the loma fire burn scar. it will expire around 6:00. i would not be surprised if this is extended because they do have the fear still that we could see some debris flows in the region. current temperatures out there right now, under limited sunshine, we're all kind of holding in the 60s. we're going to stay here through the next couple of hours. overnight tonight, most spots in the upper 50s to lower 60s. we continue to track this cold front. it's a light storm on our impact scale. scattered showers. expecting less than a half an inch of rain.

the winds will be light as this front moves through. 8:00 tonight, the cold front is getting its act together in the north bay. by 11:00 when we're back on air for abc7 news at 11:00, live doppler 7 likely tracking a pepper of light showers. pretty much everyone is fair game for the wet weather tonight. through the early hour on mondays, there will likely be a couple wet spots for the monday morning commute and that threat lingers through the lunch time hour. it's not until the afternoon and the evening the clouds will begin to clear out. the skies will start to dry, and we can remove the rain chances from our forecast. have the umbrella handy. you may need to pop it up for a couple minutes especially in the morning. highs on monday pretty cool thanked to limited sunshine. 65 in san francisco. 68 in oakland. 70 the high in san jose. the seven-day forecast shows we keep that threat of an isolated
